Navigating Supply Chain Challenges in the Current Healthcare Environment



Bob Taylor, MBA (Panelist)

Senior Vice President, Supply Chain

Robert Wood Johnson Barnabas Health

Bob Taylor has over 37 years of experience in the Health Care Supply Chain.  Currently Bob is the SVP of Supply Chain for RWJBarnabas Health, the largest Academic Medical System in NJ with over $12b in revenues, 12 Acute Care Hospitals, and over 300 Non-Acute facilities and Medical Practices.  For 18 months prior Bob was the VP of Managed Services with HealthTrust, leading the company’s outsourced Supply Chain Leadership Staffing business and the interim SVP of Supply Chain for RWJBarnabas Health.  Prior to this Bob was the AVP for Supply Chain at UAB Health System in Birmingham Alabama for 9 years including the 1,250 bed flagship UAB University Hospital, The Health Services Foundation with over 1,000 physicians, three affiliate hospitals, and two additional associate hospitals all located within the state of Alabama.  Prior to UAB Health System Bob worked with HCA for fifteen years, the last seven as a regional Supply Chain Officer with responsibility for Supply Chain Services for 22 hospitals in three states.  Bob has also worked community and faith based facilities throughout his career.

Bob received his Bachelor’s Degree from The Pennsylvania State University and his Master’s Degree from Kennesaw State University, has a Graduate Certificate from UAB in Healthcare Quality and Safety, is a Certified Materials Resource Professional, and is a previous Chair of AHRMM.




Gerald Taylor (Panelist)

Executive Director, Supply Chain

Atlantic Health System


Gerald Taylor is the Executive Director of Supply Chain at Atlantic Health System, where he leads strategic planning, procurement, logistics, and operational excellence across the organization’s expansive healthcare network. With more than 20 years of experience in supply chain management, Gerald has a proven track record of transforming supply chain functions into value-driven, resilient operations that support high-quality patient care and financial performance.


Since joining Atlantic Health System, Gerald has championed data-driven decision-making, implemented innovative sourcing strategies, and built agile supplier partnerships to ensure supply continuity, even under the most challenging circumstances. His leadership was instrumental in optimizing inventory management, reducing costs, and improving the overall efficiency of supply chain operations during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond.

Prior to his current role, Gerald held leadership positions in both the healthcare and manufacturing sectors, where he developed deep expertise in lean operations, vendor negotiation, and end-to-end supply chain optimization.

Gerald is known for his collaborative leadership style and commitment to operational excellence, innovation, and equity in healthcare delivery. He holds a degree in Supply Chain Management and is an active member of industry associations including AHRMM and ISM.


Derrick J. Hutton, MBA, MHA (Moderator)

Network Director of Support Services (Hospitality)

Hackensack Meridian Health

Derrick J. Hutton has over 20 years of experience in healthcare. He is currently the Network Director of Support Services (Hospitality) at Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH), overseeing the department for the system. Derrick worked with various leaders at each campus to harmonize the department’s standards. 

Prior to joining HMH, Derrick was the Assistant Vice President of Operations at Carewell Health formerly known as East Orange General Hospital, overseeing all non-clinical departments. Additionally, Derrick held several healthcare leadership positions throughout various facilities in Pennsylvania, New York, and Florida.

He recently completed his Master of Healthcare Administration at The University of Arizona Global Campus. He holds a Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Science in Business Management. 

In addition, to his full-time role Derrick is actively involved in the American College of Healthcare Executives- New Jersey Chapter and has been a member for 10 years. He currently sits on the board as the Sponsorship Chair. Derrick also sits on the Board of Directors for the National Association of Health Services Executives (NAHSE) – Delaware Valley Chapter.

In his spare time, he is an avid golfer and enjoys time traveling.
