This year's key note speaker is Mark D. Sparta, Chief Operating Officer at Hackensack Meridian Health.

Mark D. Sparta, FACHE is the President, Chief Operating Officer of Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH) and also serves as the President of both HMH Hospital Corporation as well as the Ambulatory Care Corporation. Mark leads the operational and management functions for our acute care hospitals, children’s and specialty hospitals, patient care services, clinical Joint Ventures, ambulatory care continuum, facilities, construction, real estate, clinical services and service lines network-wide.
Mark previously served as the President of HMH’s North Region, overseeing five hospitals, including Hackensack University Medical Center, HMH's academic flagship and a US News & World Report Top 20 in the Nation Honor Roll Hospital. Previously, Mark held the position of President & Chief Hospital Executive at Hackensack University Medical Center from 2018 to 2024, after serving as EVP and COO at the same institution. As the President of the North Region, Mark was accountable for the 803-bed academic flagship of Hackensack Meridian Health. Hackensack University Medical Center is ranked the #1 hospital in New Jersey by US News & World Report and is also home to Joseph M. Sanzari Children’s Hospital, the #1 children’s hospital in New Jersey. Hackensack University Medical Center earned the distinction of being a top-rated 5-star hospital by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). Under Mark’s leadership, the medical center saw exponential growth and transformation, including the construction of one of the largest capital projects in the state, the Helena Theurer Pavilion, a nine-story, 530,000 sq. ft. surgical and critical care tower. In July 2024, his role expanded to include oversight of HMH’s Ambulatory Continuum and Laboratory Services across the entire Hackensack Meridian Health system. In this expanded role, Mark led a team responsible for over 70 ambulatory care sites, which included urgent care, imaging, health and wellness, ambulatory surgery, and dialysis centers.
Upon Mark assuming the role of HMH’s Chief Operating Officer in July 2025, he implemented a leadership structure designed to transform the system’s operating model directed at enhancing patient care, streamlining operations, and driving innovation across the network. A visionary leader with a deep understanding of the organization, Mark's proven leadership and unwavering commitment to patient-centered care are invaluable in leading HMH’s operations and advancing the mission to being the leader of positive change for healthcare delivery in New Jersey and across the nation.
Mark holds a BS in Physical Therapy from Ithaca College and an MPA in Health Policy and Management from Seton Hall University. He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and is Board Certified in Healthcare Management. He serves on several community non-profit boards, including Felician University, Hudson Farm Foundation, Bergen Volunteer Medical Initiative, Eastwick College, and Meadowlands 2040 Foundation. He also serves on the Board of the New Jersey Hospital Association and the American Hospital Association Region 2 Policy Board.
